Hello,

I’m James Fay.

Need to write something here to say a little bit about you or the webpage?

Drawing on a range of complementary approaches, such as Humanistic, Psychodynamic, Systemic, and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), I will work with you to reframe how you experience challenging areas of your life.

My expertise lies in helping you express, acknowledge and process your emotions – especially those rooted in anxiety, low self-esteem, stress, abuse or trauma – which can be confusing to articulate.

My focus area of interest has always been the individual – your context, your experiences, your story.

  • With experience both in-person and online, I have worked across a broad range of issues including, but not limited to: anxiety, panic attacks, depression, loneliness, self-esteem & confidence, loss of identity, trauma, grief, self-harm & suicidal thoughts, stress management, intimacy and relationship issues, sex related issues, identity & personal growth.

  • I am a qualified psychotherapist with a MSc in Psychotherapy from Dublin City University.

  • Pre-accredited member of the Irish Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (IACP). I adhere to their Professional Code of Ethics.

FAQs

  • Psychotherapy is a safe and confidential space for you to explore your experiences and emotions which influence your choices and behaviours.

The therapeutic process helps to generate awareness, clarity and understanding of our emotions that impact our life. Our emotional responses are complex and often we are not fully aware of them or how they are affecting us. And yet emotions are valuable signposts to our mental wellbeing.

People come to therapy for a range of different reasons, from addressing ongoing mental health difficulties to coping with a crisis, from personal development to stress management. Change comes about in psychotherapy through strengthening your inner sense of direction, self-esteem, self-resilience and emotional wellbeing.

  • Psychotherapy is most effective when clients attend once a week, at the same time and day each week.

For this reason, I normally do not offer fortnightly appointments.

  • Each client's context and presenting issues are unique, therefore their needs are different.

The first session will facilitate a mutual decision as to whether I am the right therapist to work with you. As part of the process of therapy, we will have regular reviews to check in with your overall experience.

It is my experience that clients get more from the process by committing to the therapeutic process for a number months, rather than weeks.

  • In person sessions take place weekdays Monday to Thursday between 8am and 5pm.

Online sessions are available weekdays Monday to Thursday between 9am and 9pm.

    Each session lasts 50 minutes.

  • €70 per appointment.

A 48 hour (two working days) cancellation policy applies to appointments.

Payments can be made via bank transfer, PayPal and Revolut, or with credit/debit card in person.

    Receipts are issued on request.

  • Claims will depend on your insurer and insurance policy.

Not all insurance policies cover psychotherapy or counselling appointments. It is prudent to check with your insurer first, clarifying the number of sessions and % payment covered, and if my IACP membership status (i.e. pre-accredited) will have any bearing on your claim.
